Paw-paws
Now Harvesting! Paw-paw is North America’s native “tropical fruit.” What do they taste like? Paw-paws! Some people say a cross between a banana and a mango. Personally, I don’t think that’s correct. I think they’re totally unique. Learn more below.
The season is short so get them soon! Price is per pound and there is a picture of paw-paws on a scale that shows you about how much that is. If you’re buying more than 10 pounds email me for a discount.
Pick-up only! (If you’re close but have mobility issues, I will deliver. Just email me).
Use paw-paw pulp as a ingredient in sweet breads, jams, and compotes.
You can also cook them down a bit, add a little sugar and vanilla and eat them over vanilla ice cream (or you can just wait until I make paw-paw syrup).
Here are a couple of short videos that will give you some more info about how and at what stage of ripe to eat paw-paw:
And if you're interested even more information, like nutritional value, check out Kentucky State University's webpages about the fruit.
